except for the amazing good time i had at the giants game and the beach this weekend and the ballet tonight. even though I am having all this fun, I feel like I am getting robbed because there is this lingering, nagging thing that keeps whispering "you're not allowed to have fun when there's homework to be done"

i can't wait for my month off. the first thing I am going to do is go home and give my family a hug. i haven't been home since Jan! It's only an hour away. I was supposed to go home tomorrow but I got Jury duty. I mean, I got called in to report to the courthouse at noon tomorrow. boo. but i am kinda excited to help decide someone's fate. jk. i am more excited to hear all the crazy shit that's going on. i am going to be pissed if it's some underage drinking in public case.

Anyone interested in a hike and some indian food this weekend?

I told my mom I may come down and she said bring your friends.

There are a bunch of trails in the Santa Cruz mountains and a totally sustainable house you can tour on the way up there.

Also, mama may make the food, she has cable, a huge TV and a fireplace. And it may not be a bad place to look at stars.

Bring a bag if you want to stay the night. I have room for 4.

So, I am going to Berlin for the first time ever and all I have is just a day and a half there.

I was wondering if any of my well traveled friends had any advice for me as far as places to go and see.

So I am really behind in my readings about this election. I usually read all the props front and back, but I don't think the state mailed me my explanation of the props.

One thing I am disturbed by is that the Republican party will have it's first closed election. Which is totally f'd up and I believe shouldn't be allowed in this country. It's further restricting what we as voters can do.

I am an independent (not registered under the Independent party) but a "decline-to-state" which gives a voter the option to choose the best candidate without blind allegiance to a party before you even know who's going to be on the ballot. I was actually considering voting Republican in this election, it was a long story but on the day I began talking about it, I got the news. Decline to staters can not vote Republican in the primary. The Republican party also opted out of 100,000s of potential votes. Just proving their over assiness.

Anyway as far as the city goes this is what I am voting

A) YES - we should fix our parks - the equipment in some playgrounds is dangerous and sometimes made with toxic materials. Also, it was endorsed by the California Native Plant Society. This means that they will use plants that can survive in our climate = healthier in the soil and less $$ watering.

B) Probably yes - it's the retired cop pension bill. Basically, an officer can receive retirement benefits when they qualify, but in the event of a shortage they can continue working on the force for regular pay. But they will put off training new cadets.

C) NO! NO! NO! - I don't want SF to spend money thinking about annexing Alcatraz to build a gigantic statue welcoming boats and a bizarre hippie spiritual retreat center.
(please keep in mind this is from someone who's mother is a spiritual speaker. I bet she thinks it's weird too)
Also, I have a friend who is of Native American decent and she told me that their community goes to Alcatraz twice a year to express their views. (The bill mentioned something about that being a possible use) I think the National Park Service is doing a great job with Alcatraz.

And the Touz has made an amazing transformation. The stash is gone. It went missing sometime between Sun night and Mon morning. If you find it, please inform the local authorities.

I told Bex I would head out to the airport at 1 since i am up until 3 normally, but my usual insomnia is not here and my workload has gone from 100% to 10%. But that's good to stay up since I have a few big nights ahead of me.

So to recap all I did so far (in backwards order):
harvested shiitake's with emma
fed Drusilla (sort of)
called James because I realized I don't know how to feed/care for an animal (courtesy of my allergies)
made jokes at dad's expense since Raina and him have a very similar e-mail address (if you get my drift. i do deserve the "naughty" in my nickname.)
saw juno
argued with Raina
made my special corn chowda
hung out with Raina
had a surprise visit from dad while at mom's
hung out with Raina
had infralight therapy done on my ankle from dan
hung out with Raina
got gifts from paris!!! (but I would have rather gone)
went to mom's with james and watched indian movies/made tea
cleaned my house
made james and alex indian snacks
cleaned my house again
ditched my final and went to see Blisses B (turned it in) - to qualify this - I was in a personal crisis and could not present

my mom and sister are coming to stay with me tomorrow. although I bet they are going to ditch me and make come there. they think my house is a pit and gross. it really doesn't matter what i do as long as i keep those old couches, which we have had for 24 years. I can't throw them out.
